Attaching your Sprout Shell to an Infant Carrier:
The Standard Method
- Place infant carrier handle in the upright position
- Unfold Sprout Shell and hold with label facing front.
- Secure the elastic over the back
- Bring the Sprout Shell up and over the handle, and secure in the front.
- The hole should be centered over the handle

The Half Method:
- Un-attach the bottom half and rest it over the handle. This creates a little extra protection than the sun shade alone, but allows baby to look out as well.

The Side-to-Side Method:
- Un-attach cover from one side of the carrier only. This allows baby to look out, but still be protected from the sun or wind on the other side.

The "Anything-That-Works" Method:
- Shifting the cover to whichever position and angle works for you and your baby at the time. You can also do this in the car by attaching cover to the foot-end of the carrier and bringing it over the handle only. This protects your baby from the sun coming in the side or back window.

When Sheri Whittaker gave birth to her third daughter in the fall of 1998, she realized the weather would soon be turning cold and she would be forced yet again to cover the infant carrier with a blanket whenever she stepped outside. Like every mom on-the-go, Sheri was quickly reminded of how difficult it is to keep a blanket draped over the carrier handle while trying to prevent it from flying away and exposing her baby to the elements. She was also reluctant to suffocate her daughter under multiple blankets. After searching every baby store for a solution, but finding nothing that worked like she wanted, she made a cover of her own. One that fit all the way around the infant seat, with elastic in the bottom to hold it in place, plus a hole in the top for the handle to fit through so her hand wouldn’t slip, and she could see her baby inside its tent-like enclosure.
As the years passed, Sheri was continually amazed that no one had the same idea she did. Ten years later the little seed sprouted when her oldest daughter Kirsten became pregnant and insisted she and her modern-mom friends have infant carrier covers too. It seemed the world was going through a baby boom and they became frustrated every time they saw someone using a blanket to cover their infant carrier. Sheri and Kirsten were convinced the world was in serious need of a truly functional infant carrier cover.
